It may be the beginning of Fall, but the weather outside is still screaming Summer! Living in Chicago there are endless amounts of options of where to eat, making it difficult to choose a restaurant. Everyone is in the mood for something different, you do not want to splurge and you want to explore outside of your neighborhood but are afraid to. One thing that I think we can all agree on is that outdoor seating is the best: warm sunshine, cool breezes and a delicious meal! Take advantage of this wonderful weather by going out to eat and requesting to sit outside! Here are some neighborhood hot spots with the best outdoor seating!
This Oregon-style pizzeria specializes in pies that steer away from Chicago-style. ”It has a thinner base and a fluffy outer crust,” co-owner Josh Lachelli said. Order from a variety of pies that will be sure to please your taste buds, ”Knife and Forkner” (pepperoni, blackened chicken, bacon and barbecue sauce) and the cheesy “Party Boi” (pepperoni, pepperoncini, mozzarella and provolone). Sit outside in the fenced off patio, that makes you feel as if you just stepped out of a Pottery Barn Magazine! What to try: Bread sticks and goat cheese appetizer, Special-K pizza and for drinks, The Hooch.
2. Jerry’s, 1938 W. Division St.
Looking for a Saturday afternoon brunch spot that has prime people watching and delicious food? This is your place then! Jerry’s offers a lineup of over 100 sandwiches, including named creations, warm sandwiches, burgers, hickory-smoked meat, and rotating collection of specials. In addition, customers can create their own sandwiches by choosing from among over one hundred breads, fillings, cheeses, and sauces. What to try: Andy C Steak Sandwich & The Muffuletta.
3. 90 Miles Cuban Cafe, 2540 W. Armitage & 3101 N. Clybourn Ave.
With the slogan of “Taste The Forbidden”, this gem delivers authentic and delicious Cuban sandwiches that are made to order. The Gonzalez Family has pulled out all of the stops to take traditional recipes and work them into an environment that is fun and relaxing! While it is BYOB, they will be more than happy to mix rum with their house made mojito mix or a bottle of red wine with sangria. But be prepared for live Cuban music, authentic food, laughs, and lots and lots of dancing! What to try: Signature Cubano Sandwich & Plantain Chips.
4. American Junkie, 15 W. Illinois Street
It’s game day and you do not want to stay inside because it is so beautiful out. What do you do? Call up your buddies and go to American Junkie of course! This industrial-inspired bar opened in March in River North and already has its retractable roof ready for warm weather. When temperatures climb above 50 degrees, the greenhouse-like glass roof opens to let sun into the second-floor space, which has a capacity of 265 people. The second floor also has a raised DJ area and a 360-degree wraparound bar with TVs. Sunday Funday for sure! What to try: Pork and Peaches Flatbread & The Short Rib Hash.
