How to Read Your Parking Sticker
We are Chicago Parking Meter pros here at Apartment Savvy. All of our agents use the parking meter system to park their cars everyday and all of our clients that drive here use them as well. If you are planning on driving to an appointment to see some apartments with us, or if you would just like some tips on using the parking meter system in general, then read on!
One of the really great things about the switch to Pay Boxes over individual space meters is that you can reuse your parking sticker you get from the pay box at any other space that is in a neighborhood with the same rate! So when you are out running errands, don’t put more money in each individual Pay Box you stop at! Just keep the same sticker from your previous spot and you are good until the time runs out.
If you are nervous about moving your car and being in a different pay rate zone, don’t worry, here are the different zones:
Inside the Loop
- Daytime Price (8am to 9pm): $5.75 an hour
- Nighttime Price (9pm to 8am): $5.75 for two hours
- Area: A box that is bordered by Lake Michigan to the East, Wacker Drive to the North and West, and Congress Parkway to the South
Central Business District (outside the Loop)
- Daytime Price (8am to 9pm): $3.50 per hour
- Nighttime Price (9pm to 8am): Free!
- Area: A box that is boardered by Lake Michigan to the East, North Avenue to the North, Halsted to the West, and Roosevelt Road to the South, outside of the Loop Area
Everywhere Else
- Daytime Price (8am to 9pm): $1.75 per hour
- Nighttime Price (8am to 9pm) Free!
- Area: Everywhere other than the two areas described above!
So chances are, if you aren’t hanging around Downtown, you can move your car to your heart’s content and keep your parking sticker!
